Royal Signals 1946/1947 in pictures – Part 9 – Sarafand, Isdud & Julis

These photographs were taken by my Grandfather during his tour with the Royal Signals. Contrary to the title, excluding the first two, I believe these photos where taken in 1948, only some have dates but they are all in the same section of the photograph album so I’m assuming they are all from the same year.Enjoy!

My Grandfathers old camera, the camera he took these photos with, is in the loft somewhere. I’m going to try and find it sometime, take a photo and upload it with Part 10, the final part of my Royal Signals posts! Thanks for reading!

  1. I think your blog is dog-gone awesome! So I have nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award. You don’t have to accept it if you don’t want to but know I for one, love your blog. To see the rules on accepting it go here (http://wp.me/p2eEip-rb) Keep up the great work!

  2. Hello I’m trying to trace any service history or background context about my wife’s Grandfather – Arthur Robinson 14959110 – who served in the Royal Signals from 1946 in Palestine, Middle East and Japan. We have a mass of photos including lots from Japan and lots on mine clearance. Any suggestions where to start or any context to the conflicts he participated in? Big thanks Steve

  3. Hello thanks for commenting, luckily most of the photos in my Grandfathers album were labelled. Have you found out any more information on yours? Japan sounds interesting, WW2 had ended by 1946 so there were no conflicts to participate in.

  4. Hello – I’d like to use one of your photos to illustrate a blog post about Royal Signals in Palestine. Could you drop me an email at nick(at)nickmetcalfe.co.uk please? Thanks.

  5. Regarding the photo of the lads at khafre ……do you know who the chap is in the white shirt, seated front row left ? He looks like my uncle.

    1. Hi Brian, No sorry, I have already added all the names from the photo album to each photo. Do you think your uncle could have been there between 1946 – 1947?

  6. I am trying to trace any information regarding my father, Ben Seers as far as I know he served in the Royal signals until 1948

    1. Hi David, thanks for commenting. I have had a quick look through my grandad’s photographs, but can’t find any Bens, sorry. I will keep an eye out though.
